Ethnography proposal

For my ethnography, Im going to profile one of my personal friends who also is a musician, he has the biggest show of his local tour this month. And I plan on following him around for a few days before his biggest show. Monitoring how he acts, what his daily routine is, and how his music affects other people. I feel like in this way, I'm actually doing a little bit of both, a profiling, and a job site visit. I think this way, everyone will get to see the true struggles, and the triumphs of a traveling musician. Im hoping that this "ride along" will change everyone's view of the life of a performer and to hopefully enlighten them in the process.

Rough draft for Memoir

-English draft memoir            -ever since I can remember, every single day, when I was home as a kid. I'd take my moms pots and pans, spread them across the floor, and drum away until she came in and told me to quiet down.           -as I got older I can still remember sitting on the couch before and after school, and watching the old MTV, you know, the one with e actual non stop music videos all day. And singing along to all my favorite songs at the time.            -I also have a vague memory of dancing, and how that ties into the arts, and music, as I watched MTV as a kid, I'd get up off my couch and dance along to the artists on the screen, it was a lot like my daily exercise routine.            -when I got into middle school, I just remember listening to a lot of music, I got my first iPod (the old, forty pound brick). And I remember actually getting in trouble at home for always having my earbuds in (I still do to this day).            - 8th grade into high school, I started to write original songs, and I remember when my mom and dad bought me my first guitar, it was around the middle of my freshman year of high school, they bought me a pawn shop black electric guitar. Later that year I went out and I bought my first acoustic guitar. (I didn't like the menacing, dark sound of the electric guitar as opposed to the lovely, bright, and warm sound of my acoustic guitar.           -by the time my junior year came around, I was known around my family as "the music kid" I can still remember performing a bunch of songs at my cousins wedding in Tampa, I sang in front of nearly 400 people for a few songs.           -as time goes on, so much has changed in my life, friends, hobbies, interests. But one thing has stood relevant, and has stood the test of time. Music.           -after i Bought my guitar, how my hunger for musical knowledge got the best of me and I went out and learnt every single instrument I could get my hands on.               What I'm going to write about.      -one paragraph for each stage of school     (home and pre school, elementary, middle, high)      -pivotal moments in my life as a musician     -how music has changed my attitude towards life and the people in it     -start with me walking out onto my living room floor playing drums.      -dancing around to MTV as an elementary school kid     -skip to when I was walking into the kitchen to eat as an middle school kid, getting yelled at to turn the iPod off     -buying my first acoustic guitar     -the big finale, performing at my cousins wedding/my first performance

Rhetorical Analysis

This is a poster for a cell phone manufactured by Sony. I feel like this shows how the world is a "binary" world, and when you have this phone it let's you see the world in a whole new way. I feel like this ad, with very little text placed in it. Tells a sort of story, or narrative that uses familiar landscape and architecture, as well as nature. It uses these things that are familiar to you, recreates them using a very plain, dull color, that almost makes it look binary, or just plain. And then takes the main subject (the man with the phone) and renders him colorful and full of life and action.

Theme Proposal

For my theme i would love to be able to do the Arts, as i`m studying Animation, this will give me the most opportune chance to get more incite into my major, and also make it interesting, and a little fun at the same time. i know there's going to be a lot of people fighting for this theme, but with enough experience at hand, and more thirst for the knowledge available in the arts, i think giving this theme to me will not only improve my grade in the class, but it will also bring me closer to my major, and help me achieve more in my years here at bcc. the other two choices i would pick would be Electronics, or Family.

Auto Biography

Hey everyone! My names Joseph Barros, but please, everyone call me Joey. this is my second semester at BCC and i absolutely love it! Im Studying to be an Animator after college and i couldnt be any happier with the path that I`ve decided to take. I love reading and writing, as a musician if found myself becoming ten times better than i have ever been at writing. I have always been an avid reader, i have always enjoyed it, and have taken pride in it. I feel like when i write anything, whether it be a song, or a short story, it becomes an escape, stress relieving almost. which as a college student, is one of the things we need the most. so every chance i get, i `ll always sit down with a good book, or a piece of paper, and read, or write the day away. I`m so excited to be in this class, and i cant wait to start writing!
